Osambela's House

Is one of the biggest house built in Lima during the colonial Viceroyalty of Peru period. It is located at Conde de Superunda Street 298. In the historic centre of Lima. It is also called Casa de Oquendo.

This mansion was built between 1803 and 1805, but was officially finished in 1807. It has five balconies and a mirador from which the first owner of the place, Don Martín de Osambela, watched with a spyglass the arrival of galleons to the port of Callao. It was renovated in 2003 and serves as a venue for art exhibitions and cultural events.

Sanctuary of Saint Rose of Lima

This place is the house where was born and lived for several years the first American saint. Now a sanctuary, has its own church inside which holds works of colonial art as well as several relics of Santa Rosa, San Martin de Porres and San Juan Masias. In the space of the house we appreciate a garden of roses, the holy shrine built with help of his brother to wallow in prayer, her parents and her bedroom where she was born and also the known well of desires. With special permission, you can visit a small museum where you can appreciate the personal property of the saint as the image of Jesus Child, whom she called “doc”, items she used to torment herself and her handwriting letters among others.
